Story

Joshua Mostert and Joshua Freeth will attempt to climb 3 British peaks: Ben Nevis, Mount Snowden and Scafell Pike, in a single 24-hour period on Friday 8 June 2018 to raise funds for the Mike Campbell Foundation’s vital justice work in Zimbabwe. Their support team comprises Mark Norman, Jason Mostert, David Norman, and Simon Howitt.

Josh Mostert runs a game capture unit in Zimbabwe, and Josh Freeth is the grandson of the late commercial farmer and conservationist Mike
Campbell. They explain their motivation:

“Sadly we have seen some great injustices that have led to so much destruction, and the complete decimation of unique wildlife populations on vast tracts of land that were formerly given over to them. Mike Campbell, in whose honour the foundation was set up, was an ardent conservationist who lost hundreds of animals to lawlessness, and put his life on the line for them. This is in the past, but if we do not stand up for honesty, integrity and righteousness now, and learn real lessons from bygone mistakes, history will continue to repeat itself to the detriment of us all! Please support our contribution to the restoration of justice in Zimbabwe.”

WHY CLIMB?

The money raised will go towards the important work of the
Mike Campbell Foundation in Zimbabwe. Our justice initiatives include:

Charting a way forward to create a just resolution to the chaotic land nationalisation situation in Zimbabwe.  Africa will continue to fail – and be unable to feed itself - so long as property rights for all are not established and proper protection is not afforded to the individual from the powerful ruling party elite.

Protecting the remainder of Zimbabwe’s already decimated
wildlife through the restoration of property rights so that conservationists can reduce the rampant poaching, protect game and rebuild animal populations.

Legal initiatives to restore the highly respected regional
human rights court, the SADC Tribunal, so that all Zimbabweans can have access to justice.
